Underwater Museum in Cancun

Cancun seems to be in constant development in 2010.
This year has brought many many new things that definitely help us take the final
decision that it is a must-do activity to return to this popular Caribbean destination.

The beach recovery has left Cancun beaches with spectacular, long sandy beaches! Perfect place to take a breath, and sit down - playing with the new brightly white sand in our hands,to wonder the amazing turquoise Ocean view, and don't think of any common stressful thought, just simply sit and enjoy the sound of waves passing by.

Ok, but after you have recharged your energies, you feel like you need something
really special! Here we are! An Underwater museum with underwater sculptures!
Another new and unique monument in Cancun! Actually, the largest underwater museum in our World! A magical area between Cancun and the island in front of Cancun, called Isla Mujeres (half an hour on ferry to cross) will be the home place of this museum, within the Marine Natural Park.

You have to submerge to the depth of 3 to 6 meters in the Caribbean Sea to see the pieces exposed, approximately 400 sculptures!!! The artist is a recognized British sculptor, Jason de Caires Taylor. The theme of the sculptures will vary; there will be local Mayan theme pieces, and other moments of our everyday life. One sculpture that is called the “Dream Catcher” cannot wait YOUR message! Yes, yes, YOUR message! Since you can put in a bottle your message and leave it there attached to this sculpture! The first message belongs to Lic. Roberto Diaz Abraham, the President of the Underwater Museum, tells: “May our hearts, never become as hard as our heads”.

Beside to be a new attraction at this well-known tourist destination, another very important point of the underwater museum is that it is a real Green, eco-project with the aim to create more coral reefs and conserve the existing ones. The coral reefs help the ecosystem to restore the bigger and bigger damages of the global warming that is why it has such a big importance.

By now, the next step is to sink about 250 sculptures by April 2010. All of us cannot wait to hear more news about this unique Underwater museum!

Cancun, A Hot Place In The Cold Days

Welcome 2010...and welcome climate change! The Weather in Cancun is not what it used to be. Today thermometers were showing 3°C temperature in the first hours at night. Not the typical weather for a Caribbean resort such as Cancun. Houses here are built to be fresh and to keep freshness inside, nowadays you cannot escape using air conditioning.
Lately, summers have become hotter, so you just lower the temperature on the A/C, problem solved, and winters have become colder, so you just switch on the heater and... wait a minute, there are no heaters at homes and hotels in Cancun, is not needed, or at least it wasn’t , with temperatures reaching sometimes 42°C and almost 100% humidity at summertime, who would even have the horrendous idea of installing a device to warm your house or hotel room? But today... I guess it is something that we need to reconsider. So, with no heater in the rooms at night, what can be done?

Well, you have two options: in case that you want to sleep, just put over the bed 3 or 4 blankets (wonderful and colourful Mexican handmade blankets are found at any places you go in Mexico, you can even bring them home as a souvenir!) ... and problem solved!

However, we have a better option for you: come on! Let’s go party! Visit Coco Bongo in the heart of Cancun Hotel Zone, and we definitely guarantee that you won’t need heater anymore! The atmosphere, the super Las Vegas live shows and the greatest music hits will keep you warm! And we have not even mention the Tequila that always keeps you warm!

During the day, it is simply gorgeous that the weather is cooler!!! It is amazing and pleasant for all those, who enjoy warm, but not too warm, so for all, who come from a non-tropical climate!
Just a few weeks before, you could see people coming from the beach, searching for an airconditioned shelter with a shiny skin due to the sweating. Tourists either entered the luxury shopping malls, just to freshen themselves or others didn’t even think about leaving their hotel: they rather sat in the bar of the hotel drinking a frozen cocktail (a very attracting option).
Now, many tourists chose any of the outdoor activities. The list is very long, so don’t worry, you will definitely find a perfect one that suits you! Check out our next post!
